Transcribe speech and song lyrics, word by word, on any clip

Kubrick transcribes the speech or the sung lyrics of any audio track or video clip with a time for every word. Click a word to jump there, or paste the real lyrics to correct it.

Lyrics shown word by word

Captions, lyric videos and edits that cut on a line all start with the same thing: knowing exactly when each word is said or sung. Kubrick now works that out for you.

How to use it

Select an audio track or a video clip and open its Transcript section in the properties panel. Choose:

  • Speech for talking: a voiceover, an interview, a podcast clip
  • Lyrics for singing, where the voice sits inside a full mix of music

Kubrick takes the stretch of the file that actually plays in your project and transcribes it, with a time for every word. Lyrics take a little longer, because the singing has to be picked out of the music first.

What you can do with it

  • Jump around by word. The words appear in the clip's Transcript section, with the current word lit as it plays. Click any word and the playhead jumps to it.
  • Trim freely. Word times are stored against the original file, so moving or re-trimming the clip keeps everything in sync.
  • Correct it with the real lyrics. Automatic lyrics aren't perfect, especially over loud music. Paste the lyrics or the script and Kubrick lays them over what it heard, word by word, keeping the timing and dropping ad-libs it can't match.
  • Make captions. The Make captions button adds a Captions layer over that clip in one click.

Tips

  • Transcribe the clip after you've trimmed it to roughly the part you need. Only the playing stretch is sent, so it's faster.
  • For songs, paste the official lyrics afterwards. You get correct words with the timing from the actual recording.
