Kubrick

Privacy Policy

Last updated October 13, 2026

Kubrick (kubrick.studio) is a motion design app run by Jeremiah Welch, doing business as Kubrick ("Kubrick", "we", "us"). This policy explains what information we collect when you use the Kubrick website, app and related services (the "Service"), how we use it, and the choices you have. Questions: hello@kubrick.studio.

What we collect

Account information

When you sign up we receive your name, email address and profile photo from Google (if you sign in with Google), or your email address and a password if you sign up with email. Passwords are handled by Google Firebase Authentication; we never see them.

Your content

The projects you make and everything in them: layers, text, keyframes, settings, and the images, video, audio, logos and other files you upload. If you play a song into the app, we store an analysis of it (beats and loudness) with the project. Prompts and messages you send to the built-in AI agent are stored with the project so you can keep editing.

Payment information

Payments are processed by Stripe. We receive your subscription status, plan and the last four digits and brand of your card, but never your full card number.

Usage information

We use PostHog to understand how the Service is used: pages and screens you open, buttons you click, errors, your browser and device type, and an approximate location derived from your IP address. PostHog also records sessions in the app (a replay of the page as you use it) so we can find and fix problems. The video preview area is not recorded.

People you invite

If you share a project, we store the email addresses you invite and send them an invitation email.

How we use it

We do not sell your personal information, and we do not use your content to advertise to you.

AI features

When you use an AI feature (for example, asking the agent to build or change a project, generating a voiceover, or having a song analysed), the prompt and the content needed for that request are sent to the AI provider that handles it: OpenAI, Anthropic, Google (Gemini, through fal.ai), fal.ai, Groq or ElevenLabs. These providers process the data to return a result to you. Under their API terms they do not use it to train their own models.

How we improve Kubrick

When you use an AI feature we keep a record of the request: your prompt, the part of the project it worked on, what the AI returned and changed, and whether you kept the result, undid it or exported the video. We also see which features you use and where things go wrong.

We use these records, along with your projects, to find problems and make Kubrick better, including to evaluate and train Kubrick's own AI models so they make better motion design. People who work on Kubrick may review them for that purpose. We do not sell this data, and we do not share or license it to other companies, including other AI companies. If we ever want to, we will ask for your separate, explicit permission first.

You can turn this off at any time in the app under Account → Help improve Kubrick. From then on your activity and projects are not used to train models. We still keep the records we need to run the Service, bill you and prevent abuse.

Who we share it with

We share information only with service providers that help us run the Service, under contracts that limit how they may use it:

Collaborators you invite can see and edit the projects you share with them. We may also disclose information if required by law, to protect the rights and safety of our users or others, or as part of a sale or reorganisation of the business (in which case this policy will continue to apply to your information).

Signing in with Google

If you sign in with Google, we receive only your basic profile (name, email address and profile photo). We use it to create and identify your account and show your name and photo to collaborators you share projects with. We do not request access to your Gmail, Drive, contacts or other Google data. Kubrick's use of information received from Google APIs adheres to the Google API Services User Data Policy, including the Limited Use requirements.

How long we keep it

We keep your account and projects for as long as your account is open. You can delete projects at any time. You can delete your account in the app under Account; this deletes your sign-in and your account data, and your projects and uploads are removed from our systems within 30 days, except where we must keep records (such as billing records) by law. Analytics data is kept for up to 12 months.

Your choices and rights

Security

Your data is encrypted in transit and stored with Google Cloud, which encrypts it at rest. Access to production systems is limited to the people who run Kubrick. No system is perfectly secure; if we learn of a breach that affects you, we will tell you.

Children

Kubrick is not for children under 13, and we do not knowingly collect information from them. If you believe a child has given us information, email us and we will delete it.

International users

Kubrick is run from the United States and your information is stored and processed there and wherever our service providers operate.

Changes

If we change this policy we will update the date at the top, and for significant changes we will let you know by email or in the app before they take effect.
