Captions that follow every word, sung or said

The Captions rig shows a transcript's words as they're sung or said, with karaoke, word pop, line rise and kinetic stack styles, text looks from neon to comic, and a full caption editor.

A caption popping in word by word

Once Kubrick has transcribed a clip, Captions puts those words on screen, timed to the voice.

How to add them

The fastest way: in a transcribed clip's Transcript section, press Make captions. A Captions layer appears over that clip. You can also add Captions from Rigs (under Type) and pick which transcribed track or clip it reads from.

Four ways to show words

  • Karaoke: the whole line is up, and each word lights as it's sung
  • Word pop: one word at a time, popping in
  • Line rise: lines rise into place
  • Kinetic stack: words stacked in mixed sizes, the classic lyric-video look

On top of that, pick a text style: Plain, Outline, Yellow outline, Box, Word box, Neon, Gradient, 3D pop, Sticker or Comic. Sliders fine-tune the outline, box, glow, gradient, drop and shadow, and both dice roll new combinations.

Edit the words

The Captions panel lists every caption as it will appear, each with its start time. Click one to jump there; the one playing is highlighted. If a line was misheard, fix it in place. Keep the same number of words and the timing stays; change it and the line's timing is spread across the new words.

Or paste the real lyrics or script into the transcript, and every linked caption refreshes.

Captions sit on the timeline like any layer, so you can keyframe them, move them, link sliders to the music, and export them with the video.

Ask for them

Kubrick's agent can add captions too, and so can an AI app you've connected to Kubrick. "Add karaoke captions to the vocal" is enough.

Ideas

  • A vertical lyric video: a Kinetic stack over a Nebula that bursts on the chorus.
  • Talking-head clips for social, with Word box captions for people watching without sound.
